                               Photographic Truth Reflection

The assignment was to find a theme I liked and it could be historical, from a movie, TV show, etc. I needed to find this in the internet. Google.com and gettyimages.com were the web sides I used the most. First I found my topic, then I needed to go on the internet and find six pictures from/about my topic and then save them in my files. In this project I also had to change the size of each image to 300 resolution, and 7 over 5 in inches. He had to take pictures that will relate to the images to make the image look real. Now photographic truth means the real truth of the photo. For example I can take a picture from anywhere and add myself or/and anything else in it to make the picture look real. Now the work put into the image is what makes it looks true, and others believe it so.

When doing this project I need to choose six images from the internet. I chose to have my images from a TV show I like to watch called Criminal Minds. The first image was the whole team discussing a crime in the meeting room, and I was behind one of the ladies seating on the right hand corner. And I seem to be holding some purple folder and looking in it. Like this are other images some seating and in others standing, though there is one where I am giving my opinion about the case. There’s one where I am looking at a dead body on what appears to be a farm (the body was outside of the farm next to a tree). There was in on of the images that I had to take a picture of myself and since my body didn’t blend in with the image I had to do more; I to the body of someone else from the same show and putted it in the image then I took only the head of the picture I through myself and putted it on the body in the image I had selected. It was a little hard because the body, head and image had different colors so I had to use the tools call, magnetic lasso, another lasso in the tools, look in filter for “blur” to blur the body and head a little bit. I used many different tools; I needed to play with these tools and the image to make it work and look real.

The theme I choose to work with was a TV show call Criminal Minds. This show is a show I like a lot because it relates to what I want to be in the future and what I want to study when I go to college. I want to work in the forensics field. The people who know me might think that since I like this show so much I probably got invited to be part of one of the episodes. In the image I took my “character” serious because I know that what I want to do in the future, and because I also knew that like that the image of me will blend in more in the image.

What I have learned about photographic truth is that, not all the pictures and images we see on TV, magazines, and internet especially aren’t always true; because the same way I made this image seems real there are others who do the same. I really liked this assignment because it allowed me to understand the real meaning of photographic truth, and it also helped my learn how to use better the tools provided to me. I think that if I get to do the assignment all over again ill be please to do it though I most say it was difficult. It’s not easy to just put someone/something in an image you have to make it true, real, natural. But I will be glad to do it again.
